What we collect, why, and how to get it removed.
Last updated: July 2026.
What we collect
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which articles get read. This collects standard web analytics data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, referring site. IP addresses are anonymised by GA4 before storage. We do not use this data to identify individuals and we do not attempt to.
Email. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you give us, and nothing else. It is used to send you the newsletter. It is not sold, rented, or shared. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click, and unsubscribing deletes the address.
Contact. If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply to it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data. Not to anyone, at any price.
- We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
- We do not ask for personal health information, and you should not send it to us.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish repeat visitors from new ones. You can block them in your browser settings, or use a tracking blocker, without affecting anything on the site. Nothing here requires cookies to work.
Third parties
When you click an affiliate link, you leave this site and the destination's privacy policy applies. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details from any purchase you make there — only aggregate, anonymised commission reporting.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to request access to any personal data we hold about you, and to have it deleted. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email address. Email editor@24north.co and we will action it.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for anything that affects subscribers, say so in the newsletter.
